About James
Before starting a career with Bluespark, James graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University. But when he realized his chosen profession was going to keep him "chained to a cubicle," he sold everything and traveled for about a year and a half. His travels led him to Ecuador, South America, a place he describes as "beautiful because it's small and friendly and is so multicultural and biodiverse."
James explored Latin America and the Caribbean, and joined Bluespark when he was living in Ecuador. He and his wife, Carol, moved to Haiti but are now back in Cuenca.
Since the Bluespark business model (working remotely) allows him flexibility, he's able to contribute to all client projects, which includes collaborating closely with Bluespark developers in both Europe and the Unites States.
While James is bilingual in English and Spanish (and even speaks a little French), he's also bilingual in backend Drupal coding and in frontend Drupal theming and user interface (UI) design. "I get to wear two hats," he says, "because I have an eye for design — which can be a rare thing among developers."
James works on nearly every project that comes through Bluespark's door, including Obermeyer, UCLA, Indiana University, and StickerGiant.
When he's off the clock, James spends time surfing. He and Carol also enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and dancing salsa.
